Originally established in 1936 as a working Cotton Gin in it’s current location, this venue has been renovated into a unique event space with modern amenities.
Originally known as Donigan’s Gin, Cotton Gin No. 116 is a venue bears a special place in the hearts of many locals. From the days when their fathers and grandfathers ginned cotton for Mr. H.P. Donigan to the nostalgic days of the Cotton Gin Restaurant, hundreds, if not thousands, of people have a story to tell.

Our Team
Marlene
Marlene joined the Cotton Gin Team in 2013 from a larger multi-venue facility. She was integral in the planning and construction phases of the facility. Marlene oversees the day-to-day facility operations and assists Melissa with the events as needed.
Melissa
Melissa joined the Cotton Gin Team in 2015. She focuses on providing superior service to our couples and events from initial contact all the way through the end of the event. She will be the lead team member on site on your event day.
Darrell
Darrell joined the Cotton Gin Team in 2015 and was essential to the restoration of the Gin stands in our main gallery. Darrell brings many years of experience to the team and helps keep up with our venue maintenance and oversees all security on site.

History
So why are we Cotton Gin No. 116? A 1930’s registry of Texas Gins and Ginners categorized all of the gins operating throughout the state by county. Donigan’s Cotton Gin in Waller County received the unique identifier of 116. We hope to recognize the history of our beloved cotton gin, while also forging a new future for this treasured landmark as we re-open as Cotton Gin No. 116 and weave new threads into our tapestry.
Who says an 80-year-old cotton gin shouldn’t be a first-class venue?
Taking a century old cotton gin and converting into a place of awe and wonder takes guts and vision. The building was originally purchased by current owners in 1998 when the linens and napkins were still laid out on the tables of the beloved Cotton Gin Restaurant and was converted into their world headquarters for an offshore engineering company.
Years later current Team Members assisted in transforming the Cotton Gin into the beautiful venue you see today. From the countless man hours spent restoring the signature Lummus gin stands to the gentle care given while hand-staining each plank of the original wood flooring, to the selection of native landscaping, the recently renovated Cotton Gin No. 116 exhibits the appreciation of preserving time and history along with modern amenities.
